i'm walking along hindley street with my son, on the way to the worlds end so his mum can take him home.

he's cold after eating gelati and wants to put his coat on. so we stop and he goes through the chicken dance.

warmer now, he assures me, we walk on.

now, his jacket has a hood. and being cold he pulls it up.

he also has a school hat. this he has put on over the top.

we walk along, he tells me how much warmer he is now.

then he asks: "do i look like a dork, dad?"

and i reply: "yes you do ... and i'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing."

he grinns like the cheshire cat, and pulls his hat down further on his head, and laughs heartily at his own joke.
