Chatting by the photocopier, I mention my previous experience as a research assistant. Now I have another option, should things not work out with WorkSafe, or not become a long term position. Someone was looking for a research assistant. That could be me.

Health informatics? Sure. There are computers, and it's a job, and I can still tutor, and so on. It'll be like the (nearly) old days.

Well, I've gone and done it now. I have an appointment with Mike Metcalfe to discuss PhD options.

It's just exploration discussions at the moment, but I've started the ball rolling.

And word it getting around that I'm interested in research, and in sticking around this place, and now my interest in academia is out of the bag too.
