One Consequence of being offered an interview for the Project Manager position at CISA, is that I have been thinking about what I am interested in. This has proven to be timely, because I may soon be offered interviews for two jobs I haven't applied for yet. One is a baby lawyer in the Crown Solicitor's Office, where I was recently happily employed. The other is an ASO2 Project Officer in the Justice Studies section of TAFE.
Each of the three have their little pieces of joy.
The CISA job pays well, is a new challenge and well, it's strongly edging to first preference.
The CSO position is a nine month contract - and should be long enough to get me over the mark to independance as a lawyer. That'd be so cool.
The Justice Studies Job would have me working close enough to another career option. Working in Justice Studies at TAFE. Or similar.
OK, so my revelation?
I may have mentioned this previously, but I'm interested in the use and abuse of power. And have been for decades.
Specifially, I'm interested in good decision-making; which I believe requires good reasoning and good information. In the public sphere, decision-making not only has to be good, but visible. The principles of natural justice that our legal system holds so dear are about this good decicion-making. visible, intelligible, and open to those who might be or have been affected by the decision.
Now I thinking that working in the Admin & Indiustrial section of the Crown just might be the better position for me, in terms of long term opportunities. It gets me closer to working with decision-makers and decision-making in government, which is where I want to be. Eventually, I want to be ionvolved internationally.
But for the-time-being,™ I need an opportunity to get into Admin Law practice. And yes, I was one of the wierdos in Law School who actually enjoyed Admin Law. [I will also be annoying the Army Reserve peoples again about getting into the Legal Corps again.]
