hm. most of that is not really my type of stuff, although i do love belle and sebastian. lately, i've been on a trip-hop kick. and after watching le divorce again this weekend, i've been reminded that i want to build a collection of french and other european jazz, as well as american classics. if any of that sounds fun to you, i'll send some suggestions.

i have limited hard drive space, so my mp3 collection is on constant rotation. most of my recent cd purchases have been compilations (on special, variety) and most of those have been laid back 'chillout' mixes.

trip-hop gets a thumbs up here. not got a lot, but i like, i like.

though i've not been a fan of jazz in the past, i've (re)discovered some old school jazz (mostly early american) through an old friend. be interested to hear some european jazz.

i'm open to any, and all, suggestions. never know what i'll like 'till i hear it, and i'm interested in widening my horizons.

k, you caught my interest. here goes. im being more album-specific because, well, just because. and i dont know about dancing music, but otherwise these are great:

alice in chains (dirt) actualyl all alice in chains rocks. give it a try, youll be hooked like layne stayley... bad bad joke

arturo sandoval(hot house) excellent jazz cd. soulful, bold, at times fun and at times terribly romantic

beck- (odelay!) what a fun cd! it reminds me of all things retro. i love driving to this cd cause its very upbeat. the lyrics can be strange but in a good way.

ben folds five- (i dont know the alubm name) 90's style music with great piano. i bet youve heard the song "brick" before and just didnt know it.

bush (6teen stone)- very masculine with a soft side, rock. late 90's excellent. 'nuff said.

cold (cold)- i LOVE cold.to me its mellow, somewhat depressing, rock. also, the song "bleed" from the 13 ways to bleed onstage album is fantastic. i think the overall feel of the song describes a very hurt, very vulnerable way that we all feel sometimes

dishwalla (pet your friends) more good 90s rock

filter (title of record) this is just good rock. what more can i say. its got that "take my picture" song

Godsmack- (Godsmack) (Awake) (Faceless) good metal-rock. i really like godsmack.

Incubus- any album. very mellow. reminds me of sleep and rainy days.

Live (throwing copper)- good 90's rock as well.

Marilyn Manson- (the golden age of grotesque)- this is the only cd i dont have on this list. i had it but it disappeared somehow...

Radiohead (amnesiac)- i sleep to it every night my roomie isnt here

Red Hot Chili Peppers- any album- I suggest post- Californication, but really they're all awesome. The RHCP are an excellent blend of funk and rock. amazing.

Spring heeled jack- my favorite ska album. oh so fun and bouncy

okay i really need to stop now. thats a lot. i have all of these on my computer and i have high speed internet if you want to trade music over AIM. my screename is swimchica703.

i know most of these, but don't have any of them except rchp.

love ska.

i have an early rhcp album somewhere [could be in any of three homes, i have stuff left behind like breadcrumbs]

should have some ben folds ... run into him from time to time in the city ...

i've added you to my aim list [i use miranda for im'ing, but i do have aim and msn installed, so i can switch over for more reliable transfers and all the pretty pictures and so on :)]

is there anything you're looking for, music-wise? i have a broad collection, but most of it is on cdr's [i have dinky little hard drives]

whihc reminds me. i ought to catalogue what i have sometime.

Hello

Hope you dont mind that I added you as a LJ friend. Im a High School teacher\ Middle School Cooordinator and you had similar tastes in music.

May I suggest you get into some local bands such as Wolf and Cub (hard to describe but really good alternative band) and Brillig. Their cd's are found in the local secton of Big Star. Brillig are slightly gothy inspired and sound like a mix of Suede and Placebo. If you listen to 3d radio at all Im sure you'd know their stuff.

always happy to have new friends on lj :)
am adding you back.

i don't listen to much radio at the moment. and most of that is triple j :)

i've just got my hands [well, my hard drive] on some scissor sisters and am most happy.

have an invite to see local band pogo (punk-rock-pop) this weekend, but will miss it due to other commitments. just getting back into the live music scene at the moment. spent sunday night at the exeter. if i get a chance, i'll poke my head into a brillig gig.
