i'm so underwhelmed by the common ignorance these days that i get all surprised and excited when i meet interesting, intelligent people.

some tips for the morons staff at centrelink:

getting a degree doesn't mean that you:
  1. didn't have any difficulty getting it (i didn't, but many others did)

  2. don't have a problem getting a job (i do, many others haven't)

  3. are bright (some of the stupidest people i've ever met also went to law school. some even got decent grades. and jobs. bastards.)
and being bright doesn't mean you aren't disabled. [stephen hawking, for example.]

nor does the fact you can't see it mean it isn't there. [just ask any deaf person.]

diagnosis for asperger's syndrome (for adults) is basically a personal history exam - taken by a small troupe of specialists [psych, social worker, perhaps a linguist or sommat]. they pick through your brain, and your past, then run off for a quick chat and a look over a diagnostic checklist.

aspies are part of the autism spectrum. we're not morons. [that, in fact is one of the diagnostic criteria.]

generally you've tried all the alternatives until you run out of options. then, no matter how 'unlikely', you're left with the conclusion. [sherlock would be proud. if he was real :)]

meanwhile, you're trying to get on with your life ...

yes. notch up another day.

i thoroughly recomend watching the new canadian sci-fi regenesis when it gets aired here.

actually, it's more that they're disinterested in thinking.

So they don't believe that you have a problem in day to day life because you managed to get a degree?

frankly i think the person in question has some issues of their ownt hat they're not prepared to deal with.

their boss seemed to agree with me. on both topics.

certainly helps that i have some organisational support behind me.

and the fact that i can happily represent myself in whatever forum i might need to take this to get a fair assessment.

just wish i got paid to do this shit, instead of being good at it, but having to prove it on my own behalf.

the tyranny of the majority, i guess
