i have several different groups of friends - each with their own character.

there are those i watch movies with each week. an ecclectic group of (mostly) males - mostly geeks. and most of us spend a fair bit of time with computers. we watch movies for different reasons, and we do watch different kinds of movies. with this group i have seen eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and the punisher, amelie and the incredibles. we like indie flicks, and (some) hollywood blockbusters. we also like to dissect them over coffee afterwards. after several hundred movies, we have refined our knowledge and appreciation of what we each think makes a good movie.

then there are those i know through livejournal. at least foru groups here: locals who i knew before lj, and those i've met through lj, and foreigners who i have yet to meet - and a few who i have. i try to keep up with each, and especially a few people in each group who i have developed a particular relationship with. amongst you are [livejournal.com profile] obsoletechild, [livejournal.com profile] haunted_riddle, [livejournal.com profile] unmercifulelf, [livejournal.com profile] paigedayspring, [livejournal.com profile] abiku, [livejournal.com profile] _nightfollower_, [livejournal.com profile] brigididid, [livejournal.com profile] childe_of_fate, [livejournal.com profile] enkorvaks, [livejournal.com profile] eusashead, [livejournal.com profile] groozy_del, [livejournal.com profile] dhill, [livejournal.com profile] dubhain, [livejournal.com profile] literalgirl, [livejournal.com profile] ser_kai, [livejournal.com profile] denizenz, [livejournal.com profile] wintrmute, [livejournal.com profile] willowwolf, [livejournal.com profile] vixstar, [livejournal.com profile] red_moon_vixen, [livejournal.com profile] malver, [livejournal.com profile] i_rasputina, ... oh hell. [91 friends (59 mutual), friend of 66, with 8 syndicated feeds and 55 communities.] i need to get out more ...

there are a few friends from law school. fewer than i expected, but its nice to know some remember me.

one friend from my first years at university. we've caught up every few years, shared some fo the ups and downs of life, and generally been pretty constant there in the background. you never can tell who'll stick with you over the years, but it is good to know that some friends do.

there are those i know through gaming circles. you know who you are.

finally, there are the select few i know through the pagan community.

now i know why i lose track of people so easily. for an aspie, i sure do have a few friends.

In regards AS and friendship have you read Elizabeth Moon’s The Speed of Dark? It did set me to thinking, a bit.

Anyhow I was thinking something similar also — mutatis mutandis, that is. Although very few of my friends have been people of whom I could say we had heard the chimes at midnight, the other qualities are nothing to be sneezed at. (Two points for mixing metaphors, Mr. Schissel.)

Jars of Coopers? Are we expected to bring old jam jars with us? :p

Mostly males, mostly geeks, dissecting a movie over coffee.

Sounds like my idea of bliss.

oh, you do need to get out more! lol!

my bliss, unsurprisingly, would see the gender balance reversed =grin=

Yay! I got a mention!

The movie group sounds fun. I wish I had more people to watch movies with (provided that they are quiet during the movie!), or at least to discuss them with.
