Our letter this week is from a listener who is concerned that her child has Asperger’s Syndrome. She’s put off getting a diagnosis for her son because she’s concerned that being labelled will disadvantage him even more
We’re interested in the fact that the GP has told this mother that the school must be involved in the diagnosis. We look at what role schools play in treatment and services for children with Asperger’s and other developmental disabilities, how well they do it, what it takes to do it well. Also, what is the impact for kids of being given a label like this?Guests in this story:
