Before history is written down in books, it is written in courage. Like Americans before us, we will show that courage and we will finish well.  We will lead freedom's advance.  We will compete and excel in the global economy.  We will renew the defining moral commitments of this land.  And so we move forward -- optimistic about our country, faithful to its cause, and confident of the victories to come.

every time i hear his say something like "we will lead them to freedom", or "we will lead freedom's advance" ... i get chills ... and flashbacks. to similar propaganda, though in different words, spoken by certain western europeans during the third and fourth decades of the previous century ...

and what do you suppose potus(gwb)® might mean by "We will renew the defining moral commitments of this land"? which "moral commitments" do you suppose he thinks "defines" the land he's thinking he's talking about?
