so, ok. i'm thinking about life, the universe, and my music listening preferences. not that i'm bored or nothing, just letting my brain go wandering ...

listening to triple j at the moment, a public radio station here in australia. it's a reasonably eclectic mix of music styles, and presenter personalities.

i'm discovering that i still like a range of electronic/dance music styles (no surprise to me) as well as some indie, acoustic, and mainstream rock. early morning music video shows on tv tell me that i don't like gangsta rap, but i do like some - for example eminem and missy elliot. damn my traitorous soul ... ;) i do not like much heavy metal. but a few pieces do get past the filter.

catchy is good, but not enough. can't quite pin down what it is that i'm picking out, but definately something there. sometimes it is just one or two pieces, sometimes an album - not often that i like a group/artist's whole catalogue. faithless would be one of the few exceptions.

lets see, at the moment, i'm kicking to stuff by pnau, adam freeland's 'we want your soul', the john butler trio, and some others that escape my memory - as usual.

while i'd love to go out and buy this stuff, don't have the cash. could download them, if 56K was a sensible speed to dl mp3's at the moment. do get the occasional track - not easy to find new stuff though. what peer-to-peer software do you guys use and recommend?

hmm. BitTorrent and Suprnova.org are good if you're after entire albums. Otherwise, xchat and irc channels on dalnet are also good.
