I have now added my sordid little life to the national census. Digitally, of course :)

The web interface didn't suck. It even filled itself in when and where appropriate as I went. And it didn't break. Even in Firefox.

Satisfaction.

The guy dropped ours off last week so I did it then one night bored out of my brain. It's now just sitting here, don't like the idea of putting it under the front door mat.

as i understand it, the guy will check back a few times, and then leave an envelope, if he doesn't catch you at home.

with adsl2+ 'broadband', and both being 'netters, the online option seemed the most logical. and it was quicker than scribbling on the form.

Yes, that is the case. You definitely *don't* leave it under your doormat for anyone to walk off with. Wait for the collector to call on you... and if they miss you, then they have to try again :)

BTW, if you don't want the individual collectors to read your stuff, you can ask them for a 'privacy envelope', or at least it said so in the Census guide. I actually read it through, what with having plenty of time to do nothing whilst running checks on my dead computer on the weekend... :)

If only ours could be done as conveniently and suckless.

Yeah it was easy, except the bit where you couldn't log in for half an hour after me (c:

that did sucketh.

but having logged in, half of the stuff was filled in for me, and about a third more automatically became unneccessary as i went along, so that compensated a fair bit.

Census is always something to do.

ABS. Bringing families together. To fight. Over a government document.

Although rumours are that next time the eCensus will require the use of your Australia Card [1] to identify yourself.

[1] Sorry. Australian Government Interface Identification Non-Identity Non-Australia Card.
