well, welcome to mmiv of the 'common era'.
it was a sunny day, with temperatures in the thirties (centigrade scale). great day for taking a small child to a beach. which i did. and fed him gelati. he's damnably cute, so he got a serving nearly the size of his face. talk about childhood heaven.
i have him again tomorrow night, so saturday we'll be going to see 'brother bear'. kinda looking forward to it. the little guy is so damn exuberant about things he enjoys. nemo kept us entertained for weeks.
since i had the little fella overnight on new years eve, i didn't go out. not that i got to have a quite night in. certain neighbours played crappy pop music at high volume for hours leading up to midnight, then assaulted us all with their karaoke - yes, dammit, karaoke - for another three hours. not being able to sleep through all this, i eventually called the police. blissful silence descended.
well, blissful quieter descended anyway. minus the amp, their horrific 'singing' was barely audible. sleep might have occurred had they not then decided to try doing burnouts up and down the street. the police were probably less polite the second time around. (not my callout this time - i was busy trying to at least pretend to sleep.)
the morning-after telly was pretty ordinary. apparently, according to 'news' coverage on our commercial stations, there were spectacular fireworks in every capital city except ours!? i suppose we were already aware of the many public fireworks events that had occurred here. and many of the private ones. sydney appeared to have done ok at keeping its reputation for having the best new year fireworks on earth.
anyway, hope everyone had a safe new years ...

I perhaps have a proposition for you if you do.
