i am going away for five weeks.

i will be teaching at my old high school in whyalla. this has been freaking me out a little, but is all cool now. fifteen years is a long time. i just feel supremely unprepared. but no biggie. just not enough time to get all the things done i'd like to do - especially catching up with everyone before i leave.

i met my supervising teacher yesterday at the annual conference for the local legal education teachers association. so i am now on the committee for next year (guess i ought to join up then :)

at some point, i'll be going on a field trip to moonta with my year 10 class for criminal justice. yeah, i get to teach some cool stuff this time round. year 11 legal studies, year 10 criminal justice, and year 9 australian history. so it'll be crime, crime, crime, parliament and elections all the way!

now i just have to get to my parent's place at sheidow park to check it out, and pick up a suitcase and a book or two. [about half an hours' worth - but will take me about three hours on public transport -  not been able to find anyone who could give me a lift - i would be most of the way to whyalla in that time!]

i suspect i'll not have time to read or update lj for the next month or so. i hope everyone is happy, hale, and hearty in the meantime, and i look forward to catching up with you all.
Mood:: 'stressed' stressed
Music:: faithless - take the long way home

OMG! What fantastic news!!! (Not the part about you leaving us but the job!)

It will be weird going back to your school but who knows, it could lay some ghosts to rest:)

I wish I could do what you're doing!

When I was a pre-schooler, I lived in Kadina and my parents commuted to Wallaroo and Moonta. In my mind, Whyalla was the big city, Port Augusta was a huge metropolis and Adelaide was like another country. One time we vacationed in Iron Knob and visited iron mines as our entertainment.

Hmmmmm... did I have an unusual childhood?

not an unusual childhood. different, but not unusual.

certainly not when compared to some of the people i've met over the years. [particularly during my time as a lawyer, or more recently as a high-school-teacher-in-training.]

I'm sure it'll be like riding a bike after not doing it for 15 years. It all comes back so fast.

Have a great time, m'dear! :)

I am inclined to agree with haunted_riddle here. I miss you.

I'm looking through all of my old posts, and since you left, no one seemed to reply to any of them hardly.

*sob*

THat's not the only reason why I miss you. I just do.

Come home soon.

Though I'm sure you're having a good time with your teaching.
