my son is having a great time with my parents this weekend. it is only the second time that they have expressed interest in having him stay with them on his own.

i haven't had any idea what to do with my time. each weekend has been juggling time with hans, and time to recouperate from a long week at work.

so i spent last night wandering the city, and spending money.

i bought a usb data cable to connect my phone with my computer (and the one at work) so i can update the calendar from work's outlook, and play with some media at home. [anyideas on where i might be able to download good mp3 -> midi software so i can play with the polyphonic ringtones feature of my phone?]

i also caught up briefly with some of my roleplaying friends who i've not seen since i started working (mostly because i'm so exhausted on weekends, and busses are tedious when you're tired).

i am going to put together some more job applications, and catch up with my son and my parents for lunch tomorrow.

i really, really need an ongoing job. and soon. so i can get some debts under control, get a car, and start being able to get out more often.

don't see any other way to meet people - in particular, no other way i'm likely to sort out this being single problem.

speaking of which ... i had a nice lunch with a friend this week. we're both at a bit of a loss as to how to meet intelligent, interesting, professional singles ... let alone of our age, and interested in us ...

and since my sone has now been confirmed as exceptionally gifted (top half-percent of the population), my ex and i have begun to think about his future. we are having enough difficulties of our own meeting others who are our intellectual peers ... this recent assessment of our son has brought into focus the reality that a good part of his difficulties mixing with others is the same as ours.

smart people need to breed more, so we have more peers to mix with. (besides, the practicing is fun! fun i say!)

[and yes, i guess all of you who i call friends can smile to yourselves and say, 'he just implied i'm smart' ;)]
