Learn from the mistakes of others

1. biotechnology:
   my original degree is in molecular genetics and microbiology. biotechnology just before everyone thought it was a great idea to create special degrees for it.
   
   never got to do any of it, but hey, thems the breaks. i guess.


2. consciousness:
   i like consciousness. curious about what it is, and what goes on under it.
   
   and so forth.
   
   hell, i spend so much time in it, i'm interested in it.


3. disability:
   well, hell. i have this disability. so why wouldn't i be interested.


4. evolution:
   biologist. it makes more sense than the alternatives. go figure.


5. human rights:
   i like humans to have freedom to live well.


6. justice:
   justice is something worth striving for - even if we fuck it up a lot.
   
   something, something. like democracy.


7. open minds:
   the enquiring mind is a beautiful thing. the closed one a tragedy. a dangerous tragedy.
   
8. science fiction:
   'speculative fiction', good sf, asks questions of who we are, and who we might be, and become.


9. the future:
   i have to work hard to stop myself from living there, instead of here in the now.
   
10. women wearing glasses:
    glasses, with certain face shapes, and hair, and ... oh my.
