i have been granted the disability support pension. against all odds.

am most happy.

this doesn't mean i will not be applying for jobs, nor that i don't want one. but it does mean the ctwink system will treat me a little more like a person and less like a number. also, no more annoying f*(&^ing forms, or regular visits to an office just to prove i'm still alive and poor.

here's hoping i am successful with this current job application.

i could cope with working in canberra and being one of the bastards® for a change.

it almost makes the past fifteen years kinda worthwile.

almost.

you probably wouldn't would believe how much cock i've had to suck work i've had to do to get here though.

being unemployed with a disability like mine simply raises the hurdles ... and the processes that could have been helping me simply expect me to do more than the average mortal just to get into the race ...

i was asked many years ago why i'm a 'feminist'. i said it is because i understand the frustration. i simply had no idea at the time how much i still had to deal with.

i am now hoping that somehting will begin to happen for me. i barely dare to hope that anything will get easier.

There is one born every 60 seconds.

Congrats, btw. I was expecting them to keep refusing you. Are you on the old scheme or the new scheme?

it's a wierd kinda thing. too feel like i've "won" something ...

to be officially 'accepted' as 'disabled' enough to be unemployable ...

the world is wierd. people are wierd. wierd.

People are wierd. We have to accept this and move on, hey?

it's more the less hassles that i'm happy about.

it's not so much more money that i'm celebrating that.

less hassles equals happier me.

i was expecting to get turned down again. particularly after the psych told me he doubted he could recommend me for it ...

but autismsa has been campaigning to have the way auties are assessed ... so who knows.

i'm not complaining.

i won't know which variant of the dsp i'm on until i get the letter thingy. so far i've been told over the counter (handed in last dole form ever today!!!) and checked it online.

being treated less like a number at ctwink may not actually amount to much.

hey that is great! they do hassel me less - once a year form-filling out so far. You may have more luck with CRS now, helping you look for jobs.

i'm hoping that a current interview process will be successful.

but i will be going back to crs. they were not very useful - beyond providing vouchers for clothign - but that was a big help.

my biggest concern is how and when to disclose - and even if ...

There was an article in the career section of my local paper by some emp. agency, they recommended not saying why you haven't worked {for some length of time} specifically - if possible to fill in the blanks with stuff like travel, study, child rearing etc. unless your illness is
specific to some point in the health/insurance contract which might make
their cover for you null & void. Unless they ask specifically, then I don't know what I would do either.
