Although one is obliged to point out that since the baseball competition in America was originally sponsored by the newspaper The World the name World Series baseball is technically quite correct.

it was, but is no longer.

nad that would make it the world baseball series ... but the poor sods, failing their pedantry class, call it world series baseball ...

they'll never get into "the league" that way ...
