proofreading essays is a really good idea. especially if you do it before you hand them in.
i have been slaving away at an essay on curriculum frameworks (don't worry if you have no idea what they are - half the jokers i've been reading don't seem to know either)
one of the key ideas that crops up time and time again is the idea of 'key learning areas'.
not, as i at some point inadvertently began to use, 'key leering areas'.
while the slip up may have amused some, i'm pretty glad i spotted that one before i hit send.
particularly as i have spent some of my essay discussing my recent experiences in an all girls private school. and no. i did not partake in any leering while i was there.
really, really.

i have been known to submit entire essays without having once read what i've actually written (in the complete sense, not literally).
one of them even got published 'as is'!
but as a general rule, i'm far too paranoid to be so brash very often.

I used to hate re-reading my work but I am far too much of a perfectionist to not do it these days.

oddly enough, i ended up with a new girlfriend out of that exercise too. on friday evening she was a friend coming over to see how i was going. sometime sunday morning we realised there was a little more hand holding going on than was strictly necessary for mounting photos and so on.
i have always been, and still am, too much of a perfectionist for my own good.
