you overlook the fact that many of those wonderful biological parents could do with a good dose of 'straighten the fuck up and deal with your kids'.

of course, that'd require:

1. them to take responsibility for something (even the fact that they'd caused their child to exist would be a start)
2. them to care enough about somone else to pay attention
3. you rememebring that however low you think lawyer's reputations might be, someone will always find a way to have a lower reputation, just to spite you
4. you rememebr that even if they can read, it requires them to bother in the first place

one reason i've not been overly keen to get back into criminal law is that no matter what you do, it's never good enough. their precious boo-boo bear has been wronged, and you're supposed to get them off (or get the murdering bastard convicted - you know, like in the movies or on tv).
