Hear the one about the investigating officer who works on their report on a public computer in an airport lounge on their way to deliver it? And then leaves it behind. [What a really, really, really, stupid thing to do. And who keeps important documents on floppy discs any more? Obviously Australia's Defence Forces ...]
Hear the one about the 'journalist' who decides to air portions of the draft report instead of handing it over to the relevant authorities?
For some reason, we haven't heard the one about the 'journalist' or their 'acquaintance' being asked to hand the report back.
Why is it that if people find something in a public place they immediately assume it's fair game?
Excuse me while I take a moment to wonder why Hinch can get away with being a completely arrogant prick, 'this wasn't the result of investigative journalism" (when was the last time Hinch did any investigative let alone journalism?) ... "an acquaintance found the report" (no, they found a disc and decided to see what was on it - what was their reward for handing it over to Hinch I wonder?) ... "blah blah".
Hinch must've wet himself with glee over this. A free opportunity to rub salt into an already wounded government organisation. No effort to help, just to get himself a few headlines ... and add insult to injury for the family of the soldier in question.
THIS is the kind of Failure that really gets me fucking pissed off! Complete failure of integrity.
It might be nothing new for Hinch, but that doesn't make it any more acceptable.
