been at a conference all week. ok.
doctoral consortium first two days - sneaked in by asking.
then the conference itself - http://www.acis2006.unisa.edu.au/ \
i present the paper i co-authored, with my co-author. it didn't suck.
then i'm asked to be a session chair. cool-no-worries-cool-ok. and find four more. sure. kthx. done.
then i go to the wrap-up. ok. and we win the prize for best paper in our track. goddamn thing is a named memorial prize.

There's a small monetary award (note the "small"). The policy is that it cannot be given to the university - it is for the winner/s to spend.

spending much more time on the paper was not really posisble anyway, since we did the usual thing of waiting 'til the last minute - nothing like a deadline to focus the mind :) [besides we'd hashed out the thing over the previous month or so anyway.]
oh, did i just give away the secret to our success?
i figure we could use the money for a nice lunch or sommat ... [i figured it wasn't a huge cash prize :)]
but the bar has been set pretty high for my next paper ... and it'll have to be a substantive one ... they can't all be tales of high adventure in the classroom ...
