wet sari scene. hmm. there was a scene with one of the couples running around in a fountain. but no scene where female love interest gets interestingly wet, unfortunately. i would have remembered that :D

nevertheless, is a pretty good 'introduction' to bollywood style for westerners hollywood movie types.

we all enjoyed it.

It was absolutely panned in the review I read, but if you like it, I might attempt watching it.

if you go only expecting a light musical treatment, and not a serious effort at pride and prejudice, it's a lot of fun.

we're a bunch of [mostly] geeky guys with lots of movie-going experience. we all enjoyed it.

it was panned here too. but the cinema was full when we saw it - and a mixed audience.

don't expect too much, and it's a lot of fun. [you know the story going in, so there are no plot surprises. it's a 'sit back and let go show'.]

Since the censors won't allow nudity, the wet sari scene is in so, so, so, so many of the bollywood movies.

My favorite, which is quite a serious movie, is Bombay which came out in 1995; no wet sari scenes bit it was a very popular and tearjerking treatmentof the hindu/muslim conflict and violence.

Bride and Prejudice is great, it came out over here before xmas. Its by the same woman who made Bend it Like Beckham. The critics over here loved it. The only thing is some people were possibly a little disappointed as they didnt realise its not technically "Bollywood"... It was her attempt at Brit-Bollywood aimed at a British (including Brit-Asian) audience. I think it worked. I used to love watching Bollywood on BBC2 on sunday afternoons, this I think makes it more consumable for the general population and might spark more interest in 'proper' Bollywood.

S'good movie - go see it!!!

When it gets here I will be 1st in line! My partner grew up in Russia and they used to get bollywood flicks @ summer camp, so he's up for seeing it too.

We are living in a college town in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania (US) so it takes a while for good movies to get here. That said, we do have one theater that shows lots of interntional and indie films, so it will get here sooner or later.
